CHALLENGE

Identity theft is now the fastest-growing crime in the United States, with more than 9.3 million Americans the victims of identity theft in 2005.

Consumers and businesses alike need a fast, convenient, secure, inexpensive way to shred documents and other materials the must be destroyed.

Leroy Hoelting, president of Hoelting &Y Company, Inc., in Colorado Springs, is no exception. Facing the CPA firm’s busy tax season, he knew that staff would be shredding 20-30 pounds (8,000 – 12,000 sheets of paper) weekly. He also knew that he preferred his staff to spend time with clients — not shredding.

SOLUTION

Hoelting replaced a portable in-office shredder with the RealTime Shredding kiosk, setting up the kiosk’s business access code feature to track staff and client use.

On a daily basis, the RealTime Shredding kiosk shreds paper, cardboard, credit cards, paper clips, staples, CDs, DVDs, and even floppies. Employees use the kiosk regularly to shred confidential client documents and forms that are old or no longer relevant. Clients bring their shredding — old tax forms, associated documents, and any other material — when they visit the office.

RESULTS

Hoelting & Company has seen significant results in time, confidence levels, and cost with the RealTime Shredding kiosk. Shredding time for the staff has decreased 93 percent.

RealTime Shredding’s cross-cut capability and protective window increase assurance that information is being completely destroyed, while making it easier and faster to comply with new FACTA regulations. And the kiosk is paying for itself quickly, replacing the in-office shredder and mobile shredding service, and better-utilizing staff.

“The RealTime Shredding kiosk is a major productivity enhancement. It's paying for itself. And we're providing a value-added services for clients.”
