RealTime Shredding Intros Self-Service Kiosk at Self-Service and Kiosk Show
Self-service shredding kiosk helps fight identity theft quickly, conveniently, inexpensively
Feb. 13, 2006 – RealTime Shredding will introduce the first self-service shredding kiosk, designed specifically to help consumers and small businesses fight identity theft, at the Self-Service and Kiosk Show's Booth 504.
With the RealTime Shredding kiosk, users can shred documents and other material they want to destroy at a cost of $1 per two-minute session. With RealTime Shredding's industrial-quality shredder, that equates to up to four pounds, or about 400 sheets of paper, says Amanda Verrie, the company's president.
The RealTime Shredding kiosk will shred paper, cardboard, credit cards, paper clips, staples, and even CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks. The kiosk provides Security Level 3 crosscut shredding, the highest level of security available outside of classified/government use. To help assure safety, material enters the kiosk several inches above the cutting blades, and passes through two control points. The shredder features easy, user-friendly controls.
Identity theft is now the fastest-growing crime in the United States, according to the National Crime Prevention Council. More than 9.3 million Americans were the victims of identity fraud in 2005, resulting in an annual cost to the individuals, businesses, and government of $52.6 billion. A study by the Better Business Bureau and Javelin Research indicates that nearly 88 percent of known-cause identity theft incidents occur “offline” – not via the Internet.
To help in the fight against identity theft The Self Service Shredder works well in a variety of locations , says Verrie, including business centers, shipping centers, grocery stores, discount stores, shopping malls, medical facilities, and other office buildings. The company offers purchase, revenue-sharing, and lease plans, with several kiosk models and options.
RealTime Shredding owners can start earning return on their investment in less than a year, depending on traffic, use, and marketing, says Verrie. “RealTime Shredding makes excellent business sense,” she says, “giving retailers a way to earn substantial income while offering customers a needed service.” Business codes, monthly invoicing, and transaction reporting make RealTime Shredding particularly effective for multi-department business locations. In addition, says Verrie, RealTime Shredding helps both individuals and businesses comply with HIPAA and FACTA regulations.
RealTime Shredding's installation time is less than 60 minutes. Service time – contingent on use – averages only 10-30 minutes per day. The kiosk operates on standard electrical power (120v, 20A). The microprocessor-contolled shredder features an integrated LCD driver, programmable price setting, automatic load management, and dynamic servicing alerts.
RealTime Shredding kiosks are in operation in Colorado Springs (Chapel Hills Mall); Littleton, Colo. (Southwest Plaza Mall); Fort Collins, Colo. (Foothills Mall); and Amarillo, Tex. (Boys Ranch). The company plans continued expansion throughout the nation over the next year.
RealTime Shredding, Inc., develops and markets systems to help prevent identity theft. The RealTime Shredding self-service kiosk provides a fast, convenient, inexpensive way for consumers and small businesses to shred documents and other materials that must be destroyed. The woman-owned and operated company is based in Colorado Springs.
